On sexstories? Yes comments are rare

 

Couldn't agree more. I few private messages, but almost no comments on any of the chapters on my story. I make comments all the time, so I don't get why. Also don't get why so few just vote for stories. Less than 1% of the reads that I see, even on the stories that have been posted for years, get a vote.

 

We authors are here for comments and votes. Or acknowledgment. Of course because we have some need to publish what we create.

Most readers on a sec related site are here for something else and probably never get to the ends of stories, never mind voting or commenting. They’re busy cleaning up.

 

In my opinion, comments are rare because authors usually do not respond back to the readers who took time out to comment. If you respond you will find out that more comments will come.

Unlike the forum where you get alerts, what wold make a reader go back to see an author's comment on sexstories. I've tried to carry on a converation there but the whole site is not setup to make it easy or useful. As for ego stroking, a simple, thanks I enjoyed it, is small recompense for the time it takes to develop, edit and post a story for the reader's enjoyment.

It's rare that a comment is something that is looking for a reply.

 

Understand, you can also post your stories in this thread.

 

To be specific, you can post them in this FORUM, not this exact thread. Stories posted in this forum are more likely to get comments from readers than on sexstories. So it can help.

Once you save as “publish”, it takes them 2-7 days to review and approve. It will just show up as soon as it is done and go from edit to view. But if you RE-edit while you are waiting, it will go to the bottom of the pile.

They won’t. But if you know who they are, you might report them to the Stories Contact page and request they be prevented from scoring.

You could do us all a favor and tell us who they are. Maybe if enough of us send messages, Admin will do something.

Not that I have seen. Of the few negatives that were identified, I didn't see any stories that they have posted.

 

I think one of the problems is the Home Page. When you go to the Sex Stories site, there are lists of stories. The first list is Top Rated Sex Stories - Last 30 Days. This is the first list people see so they select a story from there to read. I think there are people out there giving negative ratings to keep their stories on that list, on the home page. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

 

That is precisely the issue. That's their incentive to down vote new stories immediately. Get the new ones down in the 60s so it takes an effort to bring them up.

 

@TonyMichaels - why don’t you try something. Send ThaBigBossMang a PM and ask him why he down votes your work?

 

I did. And he did reply. Said he thought my stuff was too soft for his liking. Perfectly acceptable answer. But why would you read Ch 18 if you didn't like Ch 17? Why go out of your way to downvote both? And both chapters just both happen to get 4 downvotes, each in a group? And the second time, within a 5 min timeframe. Clearly, he was behind all 4 downvotes and did it both times to try to manipulate the scoring. Just too many coincidences for it not to mean something.

 

I doubt he read the chapters. If he doesn’t like your writing, there’s a real simple solution. Don’t read your writing. But, what the fuck do I know.

You could try reporting him for spite.

 

Agreed. I hate to play tit for tat kind of games. I would care less expect for how I have seen his kind of bullshit keep others from finding my work. The difference in reads from before he votes until after was dramatic. That's the only reason I would ever pay any attention to people like him.

 

Yes. 6 posts in the forum. Then you can register on sexstories wait a few days for approval, then post.

In the meatime you can post stories in the forum.
