Rocket Report: Next Starship flight to reuse booster; FAA clears New Glenn

yes, they should also stop doing that...it's at least nice when it doesn't totally disintegrate over a huge span though leaving litter everywhere over thousands of square miles which washes up on beaches I didn't realize wanting them to be better about pollution/litter was such a spicy take...

We’re getting a full-size Portal pinball table before Portal 3

Yes it does extend down, it's a seperate optional addon. It's adding lifting ramps, targets, spinners to the middle third. That is not a wide open middle (not that there's anything wrong with that, some of the most popular games of all time have wide open middles like AFM)

The PlayStation VR2 will get a drastic price cut, but that might not be enough

It's such a great headset. It's a shame to not see Sony invest more into it after how much they invested into the mediocre VR1 but with a huge library.

Trump admin rescinds controversial funding freeze after two days of protest

This feels like Trumps style in general. Huge proclamation, immediately walks it back, then the more "reasonable" cuts come after the initial outrage has tapered off. I submitted a BUILD/RAISE grant app this week, because well I did work on it for two months, but I have zero belief it'll even...

Meet the man keeping hope, and 70-year-old pinball machines, alive

And now like 70% of game sales go into homes were people baby them and they hardly get more than couple thousand plays in their lifetime. Hell a lot never even crack 1,000 plays. Some home collectors are weird

Meet the man keeping hope, and 70-year-old pinball machines, alive

back in the heyday, a lot of pins were played so much that they didn't last more than a few years most of the components being used by the manufacturer were only estimated to be "reliable" for about five years (most games would pay for themselves within a few months in that era). Really it's a...

honestly, they might be better built than some manufacturers of today (the manufacturer of the Flight 2000 game is still around, in a round about way after some bankruptcies and buy outs) They're meant for drunks to smack around in bars. The cabinets alone are far superior in construction

Meet the man keeping hope, and 70-year-old pinball machines, alive

Oh it's mostly already been digitized. It used to be easily accessible on several websites, like IPDB (Internet Pinball Data Base). Then the copyright takedown orders came... I get it to a degree. Steve paid a lot for those rights and he is going to make his money back. The fees he charges...

Meet the man keeping hope, and 70-year-old pinball machines, alive

The gambling aspect is totally true. There were a lot of payout machines designed for players to win actual coin drop back, or a bunch of replay credits that they could then sell/redeem. (Winning a few replays is normal part of pinball, I'm talking about a replay counter counting in the hundreds...

As a pinball nerd, Steve is a legend. Always make sure you call with your part ID numbers and preferably after lunch, not right before (he gets hangry). Cheapest prices on several items and still has the original factory tooling for some of it. The only down side is Steve/Gottlieb...
